Carol Aguasvivas

Carol Aguasvivas is a dedicated public servant, veteran, nonprofit leader, and community advocate whose life has been shaped by service, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others. Born in the Dominican Republic, Carol is the daughter of the late Laura Rodriguez and Manuel A. Aguasvivas. She immigrated to the United States at a young age and was raised in the Bronx, New York, before making Rhode Island her home.

From an early age, Carol witnessed the power of community service through her mother’s example. She learned that leadership is not about titles, but about showing up, listening, helping others, and creating opportunities for people to succeed. Those values continue to guide her personal and professional journey.

After graduating from high school, Carol enlisted in the Rhode Island Army National Guard, where she served honorably as a Military Police Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Her military service strengthened her commitment to teamwork, discipline, and serving a purpose greater than herself.

Carol later continued her military career with the Rhode Island Air National Guard as a Knowledge Operations Manager. In addition to supporting military operations, she assisted with recruiting and retention efforts focused on expanding opportunities and building stronger connections with diverse communities.

Carol’s professional career has centered around leadership, operations, problem-solving, and improving systems that better serve people. While working with ARAMARK Education supporting Providence Public Schools, she gained valuable experience managing complex operations, working with employees and community partners, and supporting safe and welcoming learning environments for students and families.

Carol continued her commitment to service in state government when she joined the Office of the General Treasurer as Deputy Director of the Crime Victim Compensation Program. In this role, she worked to support victims and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, while strengthening community partnerships and improving access to important resources.

She was later appointed Director of the Unclaimed Property Division, where she has focused on making government more accessible, transparent, and responsive. Through innovation, outreach, and collaboration, Carol has helped modernize the program and reconnect individuals, families, businesses, and organizations with resources that belong to them.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carol’s greatest passion is continuing the legacy of her mother through Community Angels, the nonprofit organization founded by Laura Rodriguez. Under Carol’s leadership, Community Angels has grown into a year-round organization focused on supporting children, families, veterans, and communities in need.

Through programs such as the Annual Toy and Coat Drive, Easter Basket Extravaganza, youth leadership initiatives, emergency assistance efforts, and community improvement projects, Community Angels continues to bring hope and resources directly to families. Carol believes in meeting people where they are and building partnerships that create lasting impact.

Her work has expanded beyond Rhode Island, allowing Community Angels to support families and communities in the Dominican Republic while continuing to honor the values of compassion, generosity, and service that inspired the organization’s creation.

Carol remains actively involved in civic leadership, serving as Chair of De La Comunidad Bilingual School, Vice Chair of the Rhode Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Cranston Juvenile Hearing Board, and President of Community Angels.

Whether through military service, government leadership, nonprofit work, or community advocacy, Carol continues to lead with compassion, integrity, and purpose. Guided by her mother’s legacy, she remains committed to lifting others, strengthening communities, and turning service into meaningful action.
