The Rhode Island Education Collective’s mission is to ensure that every Rhode Island child can go to a great public school.
Mission
Vision
Twenty years from now, Rhode Island Education Collective’s work of empowering community members to foster innovation will have produced significant improvements in educational outcomes for students. Every child in Rhode Island – and especially our capital city of Providence – will have the opportunity to attend a high-quality public school that meets their unique needs. And a coalition of leaders from our state’s highest-need communities will have the power, access, and resources to continue advancing educational opportunities for all children and families.
Our Values
Students First
We prioritize students' needs, interests, and aspirations in every decision we make.
Equity
We strive to eliminate barriers to education, working against racism in all its forms to give all children access to equitable learning resources and experiences.
Collaboration
We co-create with students, families, educators, and community members, relying on their experiences and perspectives to inform solutions that achieve the best outcomes for students.

Our North Star:
Dramatically increase the number of students attending high-quality schools
The Education Collective aims to collaborate with stakeholders to establish and maintain great school options for all Rhode Island families, especially in our capital city of Providence. Our aspiration is to dramatically increase the number of students of color who achieve academic success in learning environments that meet their unique needs.
Why We Do this Work
Achieving long-term systemic changes that significantly improve the lives of children and families is not a quick or easy endeavor. This big shift in how we approach re-energizing public education will take time, an engaged coalition of that includes everyone involved in our schools, and a shared commitment to addressing and eliminating the practices that perpetuate inequality in the classroom. The Rhode Island Education Collective will be the catalyst and stands ready to create a movement that drives progress.
Theory of Change
We believe that if we engage the wide range of people who have a stake in our schools to identify challenges and build solutions, we can attract large-scale resources and deploy them strategically to achieve collective impact. This work will transform promising ideas into enduring innovations that are responsive to community voices and ensure every child in Rhode Island can access a great public-school education.
